Spark Your Career, a series I created for Spark Publishing (the educational division of B&N where I'm an editor) just launched. It's available online and in stores now.The series fills what I felt was a major gap in the market: namely, practical guidance for finding work in the creative industries.
The five books in this series--about film, fashion, advertising, publishing, and magazines--offer a soup-to-nuts approach for college students and twentysomethings. It not only gives you a succinct primer about the industry, it has tons of useful stuff like sample resumes, cover letters, and interview questions.
I created the series template and actually edited two of the books: Spark Your Career in Film, with Nicola Behrman, and Spark Your Career in Fashion, with Angie Wojak and Marianne Hudz. The other three books were edited by Jess Allen, Andrew Sylvester, and Lindsay Herman.
